The 2019 Dimbulah Barras Junior Soccer season will run March to September 2019. The season is open to girls and boys born 2014 to 2004. There is a Kick Off program for players born 2015. Please note that all information in this post is subject to change.

Age 5-11 2014-2008 ALDI MiniRoos Club Football (boys/girls)
- 60 minute training session each week – Fridays
- non-competitive, small-sided games on the Tablelands
Age 12-15 2007-2004 Junior Club Football (boys/girls)
- 60 minute training session each week – Fridays
- competition games following FIFA rules on at Atherton, Dimbulah and Endeavour Park
Age 16-35+ 2003- Senior Club Football
- 90 minute training session each week – Wednesdays
- competitive games across the region
For the 2014 to 2008 born players, the season made up of two weekly sessions: an hour of practice on Fridays and games on Saturdays. Games are non-competitive for players 2014-2008. Older players (2007+) play in a competition with other clubs from across the Tablelands, Johnstone River and FNQ Zone. Players in the U13/14 competition will travel to Cairns once every three weeks to play in the Cairns comp at Endeavour Park.
Dimbulah FC relies on parent involvement. By the start of the regular season (Term 2), all registered players will be assigned to a team that is lead by volunteer parent coaches. Parent coaches plan and manage training sessions and assist with on-field operations during games. Parent coaches oversee the game environment and flow of the game, including subs, throw-ins, restarts and half-times appropriate to each team’s age group. During non-competitive games, kids are given the chance to use the skills and teamwork they’ve practiced during training and to have fun playing ‘the beautiful game’. Parent coaches add words of encouragement, reminders about staying onside, and generally keep the games flowing in a fun way so that our young players enjoy the game. Referees are not required for these non-competitive games.
Game structure for 2014-2008 is small-sided football: U5/6/7 play 4v4, U8/9 play 7v7 and U10/11 play 9v9. Field sizes become larger as the children grow. U12/13 and U14/15 play following FIFA rules.
For players born in 2015, Dimbulah FC will continue to offer the Kick Off program which is delivered by parent coaches and focuses on having fun on the pitch and developing foundational soccer skills such as “running with the ball” and ball control. Kick Off sessions are held on Fridays from 5:15-6:00pm.
2014 to 2008 born players will play Saturdays between 11:30am and 1:30pm. Specific playing days and times for each age group are now available (in draft form) – see 2019 Draws for Download on the right-hand sidebar of this website. Please note that the published season draw is always subject to change. Players in the U13/14 will also need to confirm games times via the FNQ Football website – see 2019 Draws for Download on the right-hand side of this website.
Before March 16th : $150 (includes a club shirt or hat for first-time registrations)
Kick Off: $ TBA (includes shin pads, shoe bag, water bottle and ball)
Players are required to bring shin pads, soccer socks, soccer boots and a water bottle to training sessions. There is a selection of pre-loved gear available from the clubhouse; please ask a friendly volunteer to help you find appropriate gear for your child.
PLAYING UP OR DOWN
Coaches and parents may request that a child play in a team older or younger than their birth year. This is called “playing up or down”. Parents are required to discuss this with club officials who will explain the process and provide the appropriate forms to be completed. Refunds are processed by Football Queensland and will only be accepted in the following circumstances: player has been made “active” in PlayFootball (see registrar), player has not participated in a match or appeared on a match record for their club, de-registration has been applied for within 6 weeks of competition commencement and the request has been submitted before June 30. Please allow 7 business days for a de-registration to be processed.
