This weekend is our last home game of the season and we’re inviting as many people as possible to help out for one last hoorah in canteen! We will have the roster on the door in the canteen for people to nominate times most suitable for them to come in and help. We suggest to offer about half an either before or after your game to help spread the load across the available team members. We know not everyone can offer their time, but are so grateful when you can.
Thank you again to our last home game helpers, it was a treat to catch up with some new faces and share the roles both behind the scenes and upfront on the till and cookers.
As the season comes to an end, canteen would like to send some personal ‘Thank you’s’ out to our very supportive members over this last season. Sorry if we’ve missed anyone, please let us know if we have; it has certainly been a big first season for us in canteen this year.
A whopping big ‘Thank you’ to:
• Lachie for picking up and dropping off the chip fryer each game
• Kim for picking up the meat and slicing all the rolls each week
• Catriona for slicing and dicing her way through many kilos of salad
• Doris and Harold for their selfless giving of so much time – week in, week out
• The Atherton Football Club (especially Chloe, Geoff & Anna) for supporting our transition to the new venue, it has been great!
• The gorgeous soccer mums Mandy, Brooke, Karen, Lou, Leanne, Kerri-lee, Chris, Jean, Nicole, Tracey, Sue, Louisa and Sally and the ever so handy soccer dads Peter, Phil, Niilo, Ron, Mirko, Larry, John & Tate
All the best to everyone in their last couple of weeks of football.
Break Up Day!
Canteen is organizing the catering for our break-up on Sunday the 7th of September. The club will be providing meat, bread rolls, some juices and soft drinks. We will be asking the team managers to help inform us of who in their team are planning on coming (number of adults and children in total) and whether they would prefer to bring along a salad or a dessert to the break-up. A list will be circulated via email and as well as a paper copy during the week or at the game on Saturday.
Please let us know if you or your family have any special food requirements e.g gluten-free, vegetarian.
Soccer Break up Day – Sunday 7TH September 11am-2pm @ Malanda Swimming Pool
Once again we look forward to holding the end of season break up at the Malanda swimming pool. Start time is 11am and we should wind up around 2pm. We will follow the traditional format of swim, eat, play and presentation. All players, siblings, parents, carers and grandparents are more than welcome to attend.
Managers – could you please encourage your parents to RSVP via email to firstname.lastname@example.org at the game this Saturday or if they let you know could you please pass it on via email yourselves. It is important to get numbers attending as this helps with catering. We are asking you to contribute a plate to share on the day and it would be great to nominate whether it is snacks, finger food, salad, dessert, etc.
Please bring along chairs and sun shelters. Also swimmers and shoes if you plan on partaking in water or field sports on the day.
Anita and Leonie from the Malanda Swimming Club will be our on-site lifeguards on the day. Many thanks for making themselves available on the day.
Last Tablelands Game of the Season
Saturday 6th September will see the end of the TJSA competition in Dimbulah. In the older age groups (U12 & U14) there will be play-offs and a Grand Final for premiership. In the younger age groups a round robin competition will be played – so check the draw carefully.
Most importantly of all – enjoy the last games of the season.
TJSA vs JR Finals Day – 13th September in Silkwood
Unfortunately no Malanda teams will be taking part in this inaugural premiership round. MFC congratulates those Tableland teams participating and wishes them all the best in representing the Tablelands in the inter-competition Grand Final.
